Bush signed a Congressional bill into law Aug. 14 which may help ease the burden when the new legislation goes into effect July 2010. The Higher Education Reauthorization and College Opportunity Act of 2008 (HR 4137) includes provisions to contain escalating textbook costs by requiring publishers to disclose pricing information, unbundling individual textbooks and including retail price information for required and recommended textbooks during course registration.
